Windows 8 introduced major changes to the operating system platform and user interface to improve its tablet user experience, where Windows was then competing with mobile operating systems, including Android and iOS. Microsoft requires that PCs with Windows 8 support updating video card drivers without rebooting the system, and that they complete restoring the operating system from standby within two seconds. However, this is not required for devices with ARM architecture.
