 Windows Server 2022 introduces advanced multilevel security, hybrid features with Azure, and a flexible application platform. As part of this release, we are introducing protected core features to help safeguard Windows Server operating system's hardware, firmware, and features from advanced security threats. The Secured-core server builds on technologies such as Windows Defender System Guard and Virtualization-based Security to minimize the risk of firmware vulnerabilities and advanced malware. The new version also provides protected connectivity introducing several new features such as faster and secure encrypted HTTPS connections, industry-standard SMB AES 256 encryption, and more.

Windows Server 2022 enhances the management of hybrid servers with significantly improved VM management, an advanced event viewer, and many other new features in Windows Admin Center. Additionally, this version includes significant improvements to Windows containers, such as smaller image sizes for faster downloads, simplified network policy implementation, and containerization tools for .NET applications.

Choose an edition and an installation option:

Customers who download the full ISO will need to choose an edition and an installation option. This ISO evaluation is for the Datacenter and Standard editions. The Datacenter edition is the most comprehensive and includes new features specific to Datacenters (Shielded Virtual Machines, Storage Spaces Direct and Software-Defined Networking) in addition to unlimited server virtualization.
